CPAP & PAP Therapy

Positive airway pressure therapy is commonly used for obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep Centers of Alaska supports prescribed PAP therapy with equipment setup, mask fitting and ongoing assistance.

How CPAP works

A PAP device gently pressurizes room air and delivers it through tubing and a mask. The pressure helps keep the airway open during sleep.

Finding the right mask

Masks come in several styles, including full-face, nasal and nasal-pillow options. Fit and seal matter, so the goal is a setup that is both effective and comfortable.

Pressure settings are clinical settings

When pressure needs to be established or re-evaluated, the care pathway may include PAP titration or another clinician-directed process. Patients should not make prescription-level pressure changes on their own.

Comfort features and humidification

Some PAP setups include humidification and other comfort features. Mask fit, strap tension, dryness and leak are all reasonable issues to bring back to the care team for troubleshooting.

Need replacement supplies?

Masks, cushions, tubing and filters wear over time. The dedicated CPAP supplies pathway gives established patients a faster way to find the right contact and next step.

Questions about whether this is right for you?

Sleep care should be individualized. The team can help determine the appropriate next step based on your symptoms, history and clinician recommendations.
