Testing from home

Home Sleep Apnea Testing

Home sleep apnea testing can make evaluation more convenient for appropriate patients. The portable equipment records a focused set of breathing-related signals while you sleep in your own bed, then the data is returned for clinical interpretation.

Who may be considered?

Home testing is not the right choice for every sleep concern. A healthcare professional should determine whether a home test is appropriate based on symptoms, health history and the condition being evaluated.

What happens?

You receive instructions for using the equipment, complete the test overnight at home and return the device according to the center’s instructions. The recorded data is then reviewed.

What if the test is inconclusive?

A clinician may recommend additional evaluation or an in-lab study when a home test does not provide enough information or when another sleep disorder is suspected.

Questions about whether this is right for you?

Sleep care should be individualized. The team can help determine the appropriate next step based on your symptoms, history and clinician recommendations.
