Sleep health

Good sleep is more than a number.

Sleep needs and patterns vary. How you function during the day, how consistently you sleep and whether symptoms interrupt your nights can be just as important as counting hours.

01

Keep a consistent schedule

A regular sleep and wake time can support a more predictable sleep rhythm.

02

Make the room work for sleep

A quiet, dark and comfortable bedroom can reduce avoidable sleep disruption.

03

Watch late-day stimulants

Caffeine and nicotine can interfere with sleep for some people, especially when used later in the day.

04

Build a wind-down routine

Give your brain a repeatable signal that the active part of the day is ending.

05

Think about timing

Heavy meals, alcohol and intense activity close to bedtime can affect sleep differently from person to person.

06

Ask for help when it persists

Ongoing insomnia, severe daytime sleepiness, snoring with breathing pauses or other concerning symptoms deserve a clinical conversation.

When habits are not enough

Persistent sleep problems deserve more than another sleep tip.

If poor sleep is ongoing, is affecting daytime safety or function, or includes symptoms such as gasping or witnessed breathing pauses, talk with a healthcare professional about an appropriate evaluation.
